Bishop’s Easter Message 2017
I am asking you to kindly read my Easter Message during divine worship in all churches in your respective parishes, on Easter Day. The message is attached.
Archbishop Woodroffe Memorial Lecture
The fourth annual Archbishop Woodroffe Memorial Lecture is scheduled for 7:00pm on Thursday 18th May, 2017 at Frenches House, Kingstown, St. Vincent and the Grenadines. The lecturer will be the Rt. Rev’d Dr. Robert Thompson, Suffragan Bishop of Kingston, Diocese of Jamaica.
Companion Relations
Two members of the Anglican Church Women Association in the Diocese of the Windward Islands will be journeying to Calgary, Canada to attend a conference of the Anglican Church Women of our companion Diocese of Calgary, Canada. The theme of the Conference is “Companions On A Journey.” An Invitation was extended to the ACWA at our Diocesan Synod October, 2016 by The Rev’d Betty Piwowar of the Diocese of Calgary, Canada. Mrs. Janice Glasgow and Mrs. Sheree-ann Auld-Mark will be attending the Conference.
Healing Conference 2017 Diocese of Jamaica
I hope that the Diocese can be represented at this Healing Conference. If you have interest please let me know. I’ll explore the possibility of the Diocese sponsoring one or two persons. (not guaranteed) Those who have the resources may go ahead and register. Please see the attached.
Good Shepherd Sunday
In our calendar the Fourth Sunday of Easter is set aside as Vocation Sunday, when we focus on vocations. I have also asked that there be an exchange of pulpits on this Sunday.
At the last House of Bishop’s and Provincial Standing Committee meetings of the Church in the Province of the West Indies in Belize, in March, 2017 the decision was taken to observe Good Shepherd Sunday, the Fourth Sunday after Easter as a day on which we highlight the work of Codrington College in the Province and take a special collection to support this work. I encourage you to support this effort to strengthen the work of Codrington College. You are being asked to kindly send this collection to Diocesan Office, for forwarding to the College.
Institution and Induction
The Rev’d Canon Ashton Francis will be Instituted and Inducted as Rector of the Parish of St. Paul, Calliaqua with St. John, Belair at the St. Paul’s Parish Church, Calliaqua 5:00pm on Tuesday 2nd May, 2017 being the feast of St. Athanasius,Bishop of Alexandria, Teacher of the Faith, 373. Your prayers and presence are requested.
Provincial Commission on Youth
The annual meeting of the Provincial Youth Commission will take place in the Diocese of Barbados from Sunday 28th May to Friday 3rd June (travel days inclusive). The purpose of this meeting is to look at the Action Plan as it pertains to the Youth Commission and to chart the way forward. Mrs. Sheree-anne Auld Mark will represent the Diocese.
Family Day 2017
The Archdeaconry Family Day in Grenada will be held on Thursday 15th June, 2017 at the Parish of St. George. In the Archdeaconry of St. Vincent and the Grenadines it is scheduled for Sunday 25th June, 2017 in the Parish of St. Patrick. The date for the Family Day in the Archdeaconry of St. Lucia is still to be arranged.
