Greetings in the name of our Lord and Saviour Jesus the Christ.
Since the passage of Hurricane Elsa, we have learnt of the minimal lost of lives in the Diocese and the extent of damage to infrastructure, property and industry. We sympathise with those who have lost loved ones; we empathise with all who may have suffered lost of one kind or another; and we give God thanks for His sparing mercy. As a former Archdeacon of Grenada used to say ‘It could have been worse’. Let us be mindful that this is only July and there are several more months before the end of the 2021 hurricane season. Be prepared!
Our brothers and sisters of the Archdeaconry of Saint Lucia are now in the throes of General Election. Normination Day is 16th July 2021 and General Election will be held on 26th July 2021. Your prayers are asked for that nation as it gears up for Election. The following prayer adapted from The Book of Common Prayers (CPWI) page 81 is recommended:
Teach your people of Saint Lucia to rely on your strength and to accept their responsibilities to their fellow citizens, that they may elect trustworthy leaders and make wise decisions for the well-being of their society; that they may serve you faithfully in their generation and honour Your Holy Name. For Yours is the kingdom, O Lord, and You are exalted as head above all. Amen.
We have learnt of the assassination of the President of the Caribbean Nation of Hati with its attending concerns and ramifications. Your prayers are asked for our brothers and sisters there; and let us pray for the day when God’s Peace will prevail and His will be done.
Yours in Christ
The Ven. C. E. Glasgow
Archdeacon with Oversight of the Diocese
