Greetings!

Obituary

We have learnt of the passing, of Mr. Denis Lambert of St. Paul, St. George, Grenada who died on 4th January, 2020. Mr. Lambert was a member of the St. George’s Parish Church, Church Street, St. George’s, Grenada. He served as a member of the Parochial Church Council of the parish of St. George with St. Alban, St. Luke, St Peter and St. Vincent and as people’s warden for several years. He was a member of the Incorporated Trustees of the Church of England in Grenada and served as a member of the Codrington College Board. Codrington College is the Theological seminary of the Church in the Province of the West Indies, he was elected a member of the board under Archbishop Woodroffe’s tenure as Bishop of the Windward Islands and remained a member under Bishop Elder, Bishop Goodridge and concluded under Bishop Friday a span of over 20 years. As a lawyer he perused and prepared several legal documents for the Church and gave his professional advice on matters, all these were done pro bono.

He fulfilled the precepts of the Book of common Prayer which states: It is the duty of every communicant member to receive Holy Communion frequently after due. preparation, particularly on Sundays and! on the Greater Holy Days of which Easter is the chief and contributed regularly of his substance to the maintenance of t.he worship of God, and the spread of the Gospel, according as God prospered him.

He was appointed as an Honorary Lay Canon by the Bishop of the Windward Islands on 1st January, 2020.

We extend our deepest sympathy to his children: Edward, Jeanette, Junia, Peter, lan, Emlyn, Denis jr,  and Joyce, other relatives and friends. May they experience the comfort of God’s holy presence and know the consolation of God’s love. Amen.

Rest eternal grant unto him 0 Lord and let light perpetual shine upon him. Amen. May he rest in peace. Amen.

The funeral is scheduled for Tuesday 28th January, 2020.

The funeral for the late Mrs. Lislyn Lewis, of Carriacou, mother of Mr. Dexter Leggard is scheduled for Monday 13th January, 2020 and not 12th January as previously stated.

Discharged

Archdeacon Marshall informed that his Mother was discharged from hospital yesterday. He expressed his profound appreciation for your prayers and inquiries.

Re: 200th Anniversary of the St. George’s Cathedral 1820-2020

The Media Launch of the celebration activities for the 200th anniversary of the St. George’s Cathe·dral will take place at 10:00 am on Tuesday 14th January, 2020 at the Cathedral.  Your presence is welcomed and it is expected to be live-streamed, the link will be sent to you later.

Servers Festival 2020

The Annual Servers Festival in the Archdeaconry of St. Vincent and the Grenadines is scheduled for 9:30 am on Saturday 1st February, 2020, at the St. Paul’s Parish Church, Calliaqua. Each Parish is asked to contribute $175.00XCD towards the festival. _Please encourage all servers and Lay Ministers to attend, and inform Canon Ashton Francis of the number from your parish and make cheques payable to St. Paul’s Anglican Church and deliver directly to the Parish or through Diocesan office.

Mothers’ Union.

The Service to Commission the New Executive of the Diocesan Council of the Mothers’ Union in the Diocese of the Windward Islands is scheduled for 3:00 pm on Sunday 2nd February, 2020 at the St. George’s Cathedral, Kingstown St. Vincent and the Grenadines. Your prayers and presence are kindly requested.

There will be a meeting of the MU Diocesan Council at 9:00 am on Monday 3rd February, 2020 at the Anglican Pastoral Centre, Montrose, Kingstown.

Welcome

I invite you to join me in welcoming the Rev’d Fr. Justice Tetteh Apo to the Diocese; Fr. Apo is expected to arrive in St. Vincent and the Grenadines next week. He will serve as priest in charge of the Parish of St. James Layou with  St. Mary, Buccament. Fr. Justice Tetteh Apo is from the Diocese of Accra Ghana and he will be here for three years on the United Society Partners in the Gospel (USPG) Exchanging Places Programme.

Institution and Induction

The Institution .and Induction of the Rev’d Fr. Junior Ballantyne as Rector of the Holy Trinity  Parish Church, Georgetown with St. John, Holy Name, St. Peter, St. Luke and Byera Chapel, St. Vincent and the Grenadines is scheduled for 5:00 pm on Tuesday 28th January, 2020 at the Holy Trinity  Parish Church, Georgetown. Clergy Retreat 2020

The annual Pre-Lenten  Diocesan Clergy retreat is scheduled  for 9:00 am Tuesday 18th to 1:30 pm, Thur day 20th February, 2020 at the Anglican Pastoral Centre, Montrose, Kingstown, St. Vincent & the Grenadines. Travelling days are Monday 17th and Friday 21st February, 2020. The retreat conductor is The Rev’d Fr. Ulric Jones, retired priest; Diocese of the Windward Islands.

Installation

The Installation of the Very Rev’d 0. Samuel Nichols as Dean of the St. George’s Cathedral and Rector of the Cathedral Parish of St. George and St. Andrew is scheduled for 5:00 pm on Thursday 20th February, 2020 at the St. George’s Cathedral. In addition, there will be the Collation of the Venerable Michael Marshall, and the Rev’d Canon Junior Ballantyne as members of the Cathedral Chapter. The Honorary Lay Canons Mr. Douglas Williams, and Ms. Patricia James will be officially recognized as well. Your prayers and presence are kindly requested.
