Greetings!

Parochial Council Elections

Every Parish shall have a Church Council consisting of the Parish-Priest, the Assistant Clergy, the Lay Representatives of Synod, ICC representatives and twelve other persons, six of whom shall be elected by the parish and six nominated by the Parish Priest.

Members of the Church Council shall be eighteen years or older and Communicants of the Parish. The Church Council shall hold office for one calendar year and elections shall be held annually for the purpose of electing a new Council.

Election for the Church Council shall be held the second Sunday in December save that not less than fourteen days’ notice of such election shall always be given.

Communicant members of the Parish eighteen years of age or older shall have the right to vote at all elections for persons to serve on the Church Council and the Island Church Council.

Nominations of persons to serve shall be given to the Parish Priest in writing seven days before the date for such election and should be signed by the Proposer and Seconder.

The Church Council may co-opt to its membership such persons who may· be able to assist the Council in its business. Such members shall not have the right to vote.

Obituary

We have learnt of the passing of Sir James Mitchell, former Prime Minister of St. Vincent and the Grenadines. We give thanks to God for his many years of outstanding service to this nation as a citizen, member of parliament, leader of the Opposition, Premier, and Prime Minister.

We extend our deepest sympathy to his children and other relatives and friends.

Rest eternal grant unto him O Lord, and let light perpetual shine upon him. May he rest in peace. Amen.

We have learnt of the passing of Mrs. Altie Alexander formerly of Biabou, St. Vincent and the Grenadines who died in England. Her funeral service was held on Wednesday 24th November, 2021 and her remains were cremated and would be returned to St. Vincent and the Grenadines for interment in January, 2022.

Altie was a former member of the Parochial Church Council,·People’s Warden, Lay Reader, Chalice Bearer of the Parish of St. Matthew, Biabou, with St. Sylvan, Stubbs and St. Mark, Greggs and enrolling member of the Mothers’ Union at St. Matthew, Biabou. She gave yeoman service to God and the Church, she was well known for her love of God and God’s Church, her generosity and kind hospitality, and going beyond the call of duty. She was one who was not afraid to express her views, and when she did it was with a kind and sincere heart and for the uplifting of the Church, priest and people alike. We express our deepest sympathy to her children and other relatives and friends.
