Mothers’ Union Provincial Council meeting and 25th Anniversary
The Mothers’ Union Provincial Council is celebrating its twenty fifth anniversary this year. To mark this occasion they had a Provincial meeting and other activities the week beginning 3rd September, 2017 in Barbados. These included a Service of Thanksgiving in the Cathedral Church of St. Michael and All Angels on Sunday 3rd September with His Grace, Archbishop John Holder as the Celebrant. The Provincial President, Provincial Executive Committee and Provincial Council hosted an anniversary Dinner under the distinguished patronage of His Grace Archbishop John Holder and Mrs.Betty Lucas-Holder- Patron of the Mothers’ Union in the Diocese of Barbados. Their featured speaker was the Chief Executive of the Worldwide Mothers’ Union Bev Jullien. The 25th Anniversary Dinner was held on Friday gth September at the Almond Bay Hotel. The theme for the anniversary is Faith in Action – Committed to Serve.
This was followed by MULOA (Mothers’ Union Listening, Observing Acting) meeting. Information regarding MULOA would be circulated later.
The Mothers’ Union in the Diocese of the Windward Islands was represented by Mrs. Hermione St. Bernard, President of the Mothers’ Union in the Archdeaconry of Grenada, Mrs. Andray Frederick, President of the Mothers’ Union in the Archdeaconry of St. Lucia and The Rev’d Mrs. Rosemarie Alleyne, President of the Mothers’ Union in the Archdeaconry of St Vincent and the Grenadines and Diocesan President of the Mothers’ Union in the Diocese of the Windward Islands.
Provincial Council elections were held on Friday 8th September 2017 with His Grace Archbishop John Holder presiding.
The following are the new officers of the Provincial Council: Mrs. Hermine Price, Diocesan President of the Diocese of Jamaica – Provincial President (unanimously elected), Mrs. Joan James of the Diocese of Guyana – Vice President, Mrs. Ingrid Lake of the Diocese of NECA- Secretary, Mrs. Opal Behari of the Diocese of Jamaica -Treasurer (re-appointed), Mrs.Judith Jarrete Spencer of the Diocese of Jamaica. PRO, and committee members Mrs. Valerie West of the Diocese of Trinidad and Tobago, Mrs. Lorna Noralez of the Diocese of Belize, Mrs. Iris Harewood of the Diocese of Barbados and The Rev’d Mrs. Rosemary Alleyne from the Diocese of the Windward Islands.
The next council meeting is scheduled for the Diocese of the Windward Islands (St. Vincent and the Grenadines) in July next year.
