Institution,  Induction  and Recognition

The service of Institution and Induction and Recognition of the Venerable Christian Glasgow as Rector of The Holy Trinity Parish Church, Castries with St. Mary, La Caye, and as Archdeacon of St. Lucia is scheduled for 5:00pm on Wednesday 25th April, 2018 being the feast of St. Mark, the Evangelist, at The Holy Trinity Parish Church, Castries St.Lucia.

The service of Institution of the Rev’d Eleanor Glasgow as Priest in Charge of Grace Parish Church, Rivierre Doree with St. Paul and Christ-the-King, St.Lucia is scheduled for 5:00pm on Thursday 26th April, 2018 at Grace Parish Church, Rivierre Doree, St. Luda.

The service of Institution of the Rev’d Fr. Coleridge Brooker as Priest in Charge of the St.John’s Parish Church with St. Mark, St. Matthew and the Epiphany, Grenada is scheduled for 5:00pm on Thursday 17th May, 2018 at the St.John’s Parish Church, Gouyave, Grenada.

The service of Institution of the Rev’d Fr.Junior Ballantyne as Priest in Charge of the  St.James’ Parish Church, .Layou with St.Mary, Buccament, St. Vincent and the Grenadines is scheduled for 5:00pm on Wednesday 23rd May, 2018 being the first ember day after the Day of Pentecost, at the St.James’  Parish Church, Layou, St.Vincent and the Grenadines.

Good Shepherd Sunday

In our calendar the Fourth Sunday of Easter 22nd April, 2018 is set aside as Vocation Sunday, when we focus on vocations. I am asking all incumbents to have an exchange of pulpits on this Sunday.

Let us observe Good Shepherd Sunday, the Fourth Sunday after Easter as a day on which we highlight the work of Codrington College in the Province and take a special collection to support this work. I encourage you to support this effort to strengthen the work of Codrington College. You are being asked to kindly send this collection to Diocesan Office, for forwarding to the College. This year we hope to have three students of Codrington College visiting St. Vincent and the Grenadines for that Weekend.

Archbishop Woodroffe Memorial Lecture

The fifth annual Archbishop Woodroffe Memorial Lecture is scheduled for 7:00pm on Tuesday 22nd   May, 2018 at Frenches House, Kingstown, St. Vincent and the Grenadines. The lecturer will be the Rev’d Canon Noel Burke, Rector of the St. David’s Church, Barbados.

Companion Diocese

The Venerable Noel Wygiera and his wife Jo along with the Rev’d Elizabeth Short (Deacon) and  Mrs. Rosie Jane Tailfeathers from our companion Diocese of Calgary, Canada hope to visit the Diocese next month, unfortunately they will only be visiting Grenada and St. Vincent and the Grenadines. During their stay they hope to conduct training in the following areas: Examining the Experience of Grief and a parenting programme called Triple P; Positive Parenting Programme. They may also do a session on Healing. For those in Grenada Archdeacon Marshall will give you more information and in St. Vincent and the Grenadines from Diocesan Office. See the attached for more information as well.

Anniversary of Dedication 

The Parish Church of Christ the King, Carriacou, Grenada will be celebrating the 165th anniversary of its dedication on Monday 16th April, 2018. I invite you to join me in congratulating them as they celebrate and to assure them of our prayers and best wishes. The preacher at this service is the Very Rev’d O. Samuel Nichols, Dean of the St. George’s Cathedral, Kingstown, St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

The parish Church of the Holy Trinity, Georgetown, St. Vincent and the Grenadines will be celebrating the 175th anniversary of its dedication on Sunday 3rd June, 2018. I invite you to join me in congratulating them as they celebrate and to assure them of our prayers and best wishes. The preacher at this service is the Rt. Rev’d Charles Davidson, Bishop of the Diocese of Guyana.

National Conversation on Crime and Violence

The St. Vincent and the Grenadines Christian Council is organizing a National Conversation on Crime and Violence this is scheduled for the 18th and 19th April, 2018 at the Methodist Church Hall, Kingstown. The theme is:  “BUILDING A CULTURE OF PEACE IN OUR COMMUNITIES AND OUR NATION” The keynote address will be delivered by Professor Anthony Harriott, Director Institute of Criminal Justice and Security, University of the West Indies, Mona, Jamaica and the facilitator Mrs Ingrid Omarde. I ask your prayers as we prepare for this conference.

Diocese of Trinidad and Tobago

On Sunday 18th March, 2018 the Very Rev’d Shelley-Ann Tenia was licensed and installed as the 13th Dean and Rector of the Holy Trinity Cathedral, Port of Spain,Trinidad. She is the first female to hold this position in the Diocese of Trinidad and Tobago and in the Church in the Province of the West Indies. We congratulate Dean Shelley-Ann Tenia as she takes up this new office and ministry.

Diocese of Barbados

I ask your prayers for the Diocese of Barbados as they prepare to elect a new Bishop to succeed The Most Rev’d Dr The Honourable John W D Holder who retired on 28th February, 2018. The Elective Assembly is scheduled for Wednesday 25th April, 2018.

Healing Conference 2018

The Annual Healing Conference, Diocese of Jamaica has been scheduled for the weekend of May 25-27, 2018 at Holiday Inn Resort, Montego Bay,Jamaica. The Theme is “Healing and Discipleship.” It opens on Friday Evening and ends after lunch on Sunday afternoon. This means that overseas visitors would normally be expected to spend three nights at the hotel. Montego Bay Airport is the recommended arrival and departure point.

I have been invited to be the visiting Bishop at the Conference this year, a cordial invitation is extended to you to journeying to Jamaica for the conference as well.

The hotel accommodation and conference fees are set out below:-

Single Occupancy for 3 nights – US$621

Double Occupancy for 3 nights – US$434

Triple Occupancy for 3 nights – US$385

An additional night would cost a further US$171 for the single occupant, US$104 for double and $95 triple occupant.

The reservations are made by rooms, so kindly indicate early the number of rooms you may require (single, double or triple) and then provide us with the names and email addresses of those who will share each room. Archdeaconry Family Day 2017

The Archdeaconry Family Day in Grenada will be held on Thursday 31st May, 2018. In the Archdeaconry of St. Vincent and the Grenadines it is scheduled for Sunday 24th June, 2018. The date for the Family Day in the Archdeaconry of St. Lucia is still to be arranged.
